Developed originally in 1922, the electric kettle’s intended purpose was used to alleviate clutter in the kitchen. The development and commercialization of electricity by Thomas Edison allows many households to use the electric kettle. To consider what makes an effective kettle, there are a few aspects to consider: the amount of water it can hold, how it boils water, and the shape and balance of the kettle. The Bella company takes all of these aspects into account in the BELLA 1.5 Liter Electric Kettle to form a relatively excellent kettle. 

Looking at the qualities of an electric kettle, the quantity of water is especially important.  One would need a large enough kettle so that one can use the water for different tasks. The Bella Electric Kettle holds 1.5 liters of fluid, enough to make around 10 cups of tea (about 150 mL) or 3 cups of noodles (about 500 mL). Considering its large volume, the electric kettle helps to complete multiple tasks simultaneously: I can make a cup of coffee while someone else uses the water for a dish they are making on the stove. Its volume makes tasks in the kitchen more efficient.

The kettle is powered through a base that is connected to a cord which is then plugged into a socket. The base allows for a 360 degree connection to power the kettle with 1200 watts. With this large amount of power, the kettle boils 1.5 liters of water in around 5 minutes, making it very quick to use and essential to the kitchen. The electric kettle paired with its 360 degree base is easy to attach in order to get boiling water. Furthermore, the kettle also turns off automatically, which saves electricity making the Bella electric kettle cost efficient.With all of these qualities considered, the Bella kettle is an excellent choice for boiling water. 

Moreover, the Bella electric kettle’s long body makes it center balanced when holding it up right. The spout of the kettle is also long and extended so I can precisely pour water into whatever vessel I have. However, the Bella electric kettle is extremely heavy as it is made out of ceramic. This causes the kettle to lose balance when I tip it over to pour water. The lid is also not secured to the body of the kettle making it unstable when pouring water. For both of these reasons, the shape and body of the kettle deter its ability to be considered an effective kettle. Furthermore, due to its ceramic body, the kettle also cracks easily making it less durable over time. 

The amount of water and the way the kettle boils the water help to make the Bella electric kettle an excellent choice. However, it is important to also consider that the shape and the material make the kettle unstable and unreliable at times. When considering the BELLA 1.5 Liter electric kettle for the kitchen, it is important to recognize its benefits and deficits.
